Trail 7

Ogle Lake

Trail 7, a 1.5 mile hike around Ogle Lake, provides an opportunity to observe wildlife on and around the water.  Muddy areas that may be present after a rain are also great places to discover animal tracks.

After starting across the dam, the trail wanders up and over hillsides along the lake’s southern edge.  Several benches along the trail furnish places to rest and view the lake from above.  Descending from the campground above, Trail 4 joins Trail 7 for a short way along the lake’s eastern side before branching off north to meet Trail 5.  Trail 7 continues on around the lake passing Ogle Shelter.  This shelter is another example of work done by the Civilian Conservation Corps.  The trail ends back at the parking lot a short distance beyond the shelter.

Just across the dam, Trail 7 joins the connecting trail which leads to Trail 9 and the campground.

Unless you’re fishing, 40 minutes should allow you enough time to complete this hike.  If you start/end the hike from the Rally Campground allow 60 minutes for the round trip.
