Trail 3

This 1.2 mile trail begins behind the Abe Martin Lodge, passing by the stone amphitheater and saddle barn, both built in the 1930s by CCC workers.   This part of the trail is featured on the self-guiding park history tour, which is available for checkout at the lodge’s front desk.

After passing the saddle barn the trail continues across a grass field and heads towards the fence and road.  The trail crosses the bridge then turns right and enters the woods.  Trail 3 parallels the road for 2,349 feet and emerges to cross a 200 foot field before entering the woods again.  Trail 3 covers an interesting variety of topography, follows scenic ridge tops and a narrow ravine before crossing over the bridle path to join Trail 2 for a short way and ending back at the lodge.
